Model behavior caveats

  • Function/tool calling: All Anthropic and OpenAI aliases support tool calling. Gemini supports its own function-calling schema (Cocobox translates).
  • Streaming: All aliases support SSE streaming on /v1/chat/completions and /v1/messages.
  • JSON mode: OpenAI aliases and prisma/sonnet support strict JSON mode via response_format.
  • Vision: gpt-5.4, gemini-2.5-pro, gemini-2.5-flash, tambor, prisma, nova-premier.

Picking via API

You can pass either the alias (prisma, tambor, …) or the underlying provider model id. Aliases are recommended for stability.

curl https://api.cocobox.io/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COCOBOX_API_KEY" \
  -d '{"model":"prisma","messages":[{"role":"user","content":"hi"}]}'

Deprecation policy

Aliases are stable. The underlying model can be upgraded with 30 days notice via the changelog and an email to workspace owners. Underlying ids (e.g. claude-sonnet-4-5-20250929) follow the upstream provider’s deprecation schedule.
