Installation

Sign up, install the browser extension, and (optionally) connect your local SSH agent for SSH-tunneled connections.

Cocobox is a hosted SaaS — there is nothing to install for the core product. You can be productive in under two minutes.

1. Create an account

Visit app.cocobox.io/auth and sign up with email, Google, or GitHub. Cocobox uses Auth0 for authentication, so SSO providers and 2FA are honored automatically.

2. (Optional) Install the browser extension

The Cocobox browser extension watches the pages you visit for code blocks and SQL, then offers a one-click “Save to Cocobox” affordance. Useful for capturing patterns from Stack Overflow, internal wikis, or AI chat transcripts.

  • Chrome / Edge / Brave: install from the Chrome Web Store (search for “Cocobox”).
  • The extension uses the chrome.contextMenus API and chrome.storage.local only. It never reads your page content unless you trigger it explicitly.

See Browser extension → Install for the full walkthrough.

3. (Optional) Local SSH agent

If your databases live behind a bastion host, Cocobox can tunnel through an SSH server you control. The tunnel itself runs in our infrastructure — you don’t install a client. Skip ahead to SSH tunneling for the full guide.

What about a desktop app?

There is no desktop app today. The Cocobox UI is a Progressive Web App built with Angular — you can “Install app” from your browser to get a docked window with its own dock/taskbar icon, but everything runs in the browser.
