Cursor
Attach the Cocobox MCP server to Cursor so its agent can describe schemas and run SQL.
Cursor supports MCP HTTP servers natively. Cocobox plugs in with three lines of config.
Prerequisites
- Cursor 0.45 or newer.
- A Cocobox
sk-coco-*API key withtoolsEnabled: true. See API keys.
Configure
Open Cursor’s MCP settings: Cursor → Settings → MCP → Add new server, or edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"cocobox": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://api.cocobox.io/v1/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${env:COCOBOX_API_KEY}"
}
}
}
}
Reload Cursor. The MCP panel shows cocobox connected with the tool list.
Cursor's MCP settings panel with the cocobox HTTP server enabled and its tool list visible.
Use it
In the agent panel, ask:
What tables exist on my “analytics” connection? Generate a query that returns DAU for the last 30 days.
Cursor will plan the tool calls, ask for permission the first time, then run them. The returned rows render as a markdown table inline.
Tips
- Cursor caches MCP capabilities aggressively. If you change the tool list on the server side and don’t see updates, restart Cursor.
- Cursor’s “Auto-run tools” toggle applies per tool. Leave
sql_runon manual for production connections.
