Is Cocobox a database client like DBeaver or TablePlus?

It’s a database client and an AI coding surface. The editor, results table, ER diagram, and terminal cover what you’d expect from a modern client. The chat, snippet library, and API turn it into a place teams collaborate on data, not just query it.

Do you store my data?

We store the schema of your databases (table names, column names, types) so we can offer fast lookups and AI features. We do not store table rows.

Query results you fetch are kept in memory for the session and (optionally) attached to chats — they’re never persisted into a long-term store unless you explicitly save them.

Can my teammates see my queries?

Workspace admins can see every query in the audit log. Workspace members can only see their own queries unless a snippet was explicitly shared.

Does AI training use my prompts?

No. Cocobox does not train models on your data. We require the same of upstream providers via contract (the major frontier providers all offer this on their enterprise APIs, which is what we use).

Self-hosted?

Cocobox is SaaS-only today. We have an enterprise on-prem program for select customers — talk to sales.

How is this different from running queries through ChatGPT/Claude/Cursor?

Those tools see what you paste. Cocobox connects to your database, so the model can see your real schema, run real queries, and iterate based on real results — under your access policy and your workspace’s audit trail. It’s the difference between dictating SQL to an LLM blind and pair-programming with one that has its hands on the keyboard.

What happens if I hit my credit limit?

AI requests start returning 429 budget_exceeded. Editor query execution and existing connections continue to work — credits gate AI, not data access. Buy a top-up from Settings → Billing.

Can I bring my own AI key?

Yes. See Bring your own keys. You can mix BYOK and credits.

What about my company’s compliance requirements?

We have SOC 2 Type II. GDPR DPAs and HIPAA BAAs are available. Detailed compliance documents are at security@cocobox.io.

Is there a free tier?

There’s a free trial — generous credits, full feature access, 30 days. After that you pick a plan. We don’t operate a permanent free tier; the cost of running databases for free is more than we can absorb.
