Install the extension
Get the Cocobox Chrome extension running in 30 seconds.
The Cocobox Chrome extension detects code and SQL on any page you visit, and lets you save snippets to your workspace with one click.
Install
From the Chrome Web Store: cocobox.io extension listing.
Click Add to Chrome. You’ll be prompted to allow:
- Read and change site data — required so the extension can detect code blocks on every page.
- Storage — stores your auth token locally.
- Context menus — adds the “Save to Cocobox” right-click item.
The extension does not read passwords, form data, or any field marked password or cc-number. Source is reviewable in the public repo.
Click the Cocobox icon in the toolbar → Sign in. A new tab opens; sign in with Auth0 (Google, GitHub, email + password). The tab closes; the extension shows your workspace name.
If you have multiple workspaces, click your name to switch.
What it does on every page
When the extension detects a code block (a <pre><code> element, a syntax-highlighted region, or a SQL statement embedded in plain text), a small floating button appears on hover:
- Save — opens a quick-save dialog with detected language pre-filled.
- Open in Cocobox — opens the snippet in the editor for execution (only for SQL).
Pages where you don’t want the button — Settings → Site filters → add the domain.
Right-click anywhere
Highlight any selection → right-click → Save to Cocobox. The extension auto-detects the language (with reasonable accuracy across SQL dialects, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, PHP, and ~20 more) and saves to a default folder.
Keyboard
Alt+Shift+S— save the current selection.Alt+Shift+C— open Cocobox in a new tab.
Customize in Chrome’s chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Updates
Chrome auto-updates the extension. The current version is shown in the popup’s footer. Release notes live in the changelog.
